Our Initiatives
Layettes for Mothers
Hygiene Kits for Foster Kids
The Layette program, initiated by founder Mary Virginia Merrick, began with knitting blankets, hats, and booties for an expectant mother in need. Each Layette still includes handcrafted blankets, diapers, clothing, board books, and other newborn essentials.
Christ Child Society of Sarasota Bradenton recognized that children in foster care and low-income schools lacked access to basic hygiene products. Knowing that good hygiene supports confidence, healthy relationships, and school attendance, the Chapter launched a Hygiene program.
Literacy
Members may partner with schools and child-care centers for tutoring or reading days. Some programs offer art, music, field trips, scholarships, and financial aid to help students pursue their goals.

Volunteers play a vital role in our organization, helping us organize events, raise funds, and directly support the children we serve.
